South Korean: FIDO certification

This was certainly a big week for the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance, as the organization announced there are 62 FIDO Certified products following the second round of FIDO Alliance testing of products for compliance to the FIDO 1.0 specifications.

South Korea: Evacuation after shelling on western border

South Korea has ordered the evacuation of residents from an area of its western border after an exchange of fire with North Korea, reports say.

South Korea: South Korea fires ‘tens’ of artillery rounds into North Korea

South Korea fired artillery rounds towards the source of an incoming North Korean projectile in a western area of the inter-Korea border on Thursday, Seoul’s defense ministry said.

The South Korean military fired “tens” of 155mm artillery rounds after it said North Korea fired a projectile at a South Korean propaganda loudspeaker.

South Korea: South Korea’s president to visit White House in October

Washington (AFP) – South Korean President Park Geun-hye will visit the White House on October 16, US officials said, completing a trip postponed in June due to an outbreak of the MERS virus.

South Korea: Condemns North over land mine blast, threatens retaliation

South Korea’s military threatened retaliation against North Korea on Monday after it accused the North of planting land mines inside the Demilitarised Zone border that wounded two soldiers last week, calling it a cowardly act of provocation.

South Korea: South Korean credit card issuer BC Card to adopt biometric identification

Next month, South Korean credit card firm BC Card will become the first local financial institution to provide a biometric recognition and settlement service with the use of a new fingerprint scanning system, according to a report by The Korea Bizwire.

The country’s financial sector, including banks and credit card firms, are slowly adopting biometric identification technologies to keep pace with the rapidly evolving security and customer authentication needs.
