Measuring in at 6,474 miles, the annual Gulf of Mexico “dead zone” covers an area roughly the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined.

Connecticut: CCSU Professor With Criminal History Faces Larceny Charge

MIDDLETOWN — A Central Connecticut State University professor with a criminal history was charged last week after police said he took more than $1,000 worth of items from shelves at a Home Depot and turned them in for store credit.

Ravi Shankar, 40, of Providence, R.I., was charged with third-degree larceny shoplifting at The Home Depot on Washington Street on July 29.

He took items from the shelves and brought them to the return counter, and was given store credit for the items, which totaled $1,339.75, according to a police report. ∞∞∞∞∞ SEE MORE ∞∞∞∞∞
