Greece: Prime minister faces revolt in his party greater approval despite rescue

ATHENS (Reuters) – Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, faced the biggest rebellion within his leftist party Syriza, after parliament on Friday approved a new rescue program, forcing him to consider a vote of confidence that could pave the way for early elections.

After lawmakers discussed overnight on procedural matters, Tsipras won approval of the third bailout of the country by international lenders in five years, with the support of the pro-European opposition parties. ∞∞∞∞∞ MORE »»»»
