COOKEVILLE — A Sparta man was cited for simple possession while a passenger was charged with criminal impersonation after they were caught speeding on Highway 111 late Monday night, according to a report filed by Cookeville Police.

The report, filed by Officer Kyle Farley, says that he initiated a traffic stop on a red Hyundai on Highway 111 Northbound near Old Sparta Road for speeding at 67 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

“I made contact with the driver, Seth Davis, of Sparta, and I immediately noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” the report says. “I asked Mr. Davis to exit the vehicle and requested permission to search the vehicle, which he did consent to.” ∞∞∞∞∞ SEE MORE ∞∞∞∞∞
